RealD uses a file formatted as a DCP “Digital Cinema Package.” This DCP is basically a JPEG2000 MXF video file that runs at 48fps and alternates frames left and right. The RealD hardware then feeds these frames to the projector in the correct sequence in sync with the polarizer attached to the projector.
Stereo3D Toolbox currently doesn’t directly support the creation of “page flipped” 3D files for DCP but you can output separate left and right TIFF image sequences for processing into a DCP with 5.1 surround sound.
