If you would like to export different types of stereoscopic formats or discreet left and right from your sequence but it would be too time consuming to manually change the output mode in each occurrence of Stereo3D Toolbox, then it is recommended you turn on “Use Global Output Mode” whenever you apply the plugin to a clip.

You can then “set” the output mode globally in just one occurrence of the filter and all Stereo3D Toolbox filters applied to any clip (in all sequences/timelines/compositions and with all hosts) that have “Use Global Output Mode” activated will automatically switch to your newly chosen output mode. If clips were previously rendered in Final Cut Pro then the render files may need to be deleted (through the Render Manager) because FCP will not automatically recognize that there was a change made to the Global Output Mode.
The term “Global” is refers to all hosts, all sequences/timelines/compositions and all clips while logged in under a particular user. Therefore different users on the same system can have their own Global Output Mode setting.
UPDATE: The Global Output Mode feature was added to Stereo3D Toolbox LE v3.0 but because it uses different output modes than the full version it has it’s own parameter. Therefore, setting a Global Output Mode with a LE filter will not affect the Global Output Mode of a full version filter.
Also, because FCP X’s Motion Template system is not compatible with the custom user interface features of FxFactory the push button found in the full version to set the Global Output Mode has been modified to a checkbox for LE. It is recommended to check the box to set a new Global Output Mode, skim or move the playhead to force FCP X to process a frame and accept the change, and then uncheck the box. Hopefully in future versions of FCP X this limitation will be removed.
